Nixon Development, Inc., the non-profit partner for Baltimore Fashion Week (BFW) 2010 (August 19-22, 2010), announced today plans to launch campaign initiatives to seeking support for the newly minted Baltimore Fashion Week Design Scholarship Award.


In a continued effort to support the burgeoning fashion and arts communities, the BFW Design Scholarship Award is a way to encourage design students to continue their academic endeavors leading to a career in fashion. Ten (10) $200 scholarships will be distributed this year to deserving students looking to add their future expertise to an ever-growing fashion community.


“Nixon Development is thrilled to offer this opportunity. For every designer that showcases a collection, there are numerous fashion students and aspiring designers waiting in the wings. With NDI’s partnership with Baltimore Fashion Week, we are excited to give them a stepping stone in their academic and professional development.”


The Design Scholarship Award is open to all college students who are United States citizens, majoring in fashion, apparel, or textile design. Other scholarship applicants must have the following:

  • Currently college/university students enrolled in a program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, or an entering freshman with a minimum final high school GPA of 3.0. requirements include the following:
  • Applicants must provide two (2) letters of recommendation from any of the following: faculty, counselor, college professional, administrative staff, or community leader.
  • Must be registered with an accredited college or university, majoring in fashion or apparel/textile design and be able to provide proof of enrollment on university letterhead, a copy of their current transcript, and a copy of the current class schedule.


Scholarship applications, along with supporting documents must be postmarked no later than July 31, 2010. Scholarship recipients will be notified on August 15, 2010 and recognized during Baltimore Fashion Week’s closing night (August 22, 2010).
